Sydney got absolute smashed Tuesday night by a storm cell that produced winds gusts of over 120km that is equal to a category 2 cyclone.
The beaches were just a huge mass of whitewater and foam, even the most fool hardy wouldn’t even consider a paddle out on the beaches. But with huge swells and howling winds, come some of the more novelty type waves within sheltered harbours, along river banks and sand bars within bays.
Yesterday morning I ventured to Bondi just to check out the ferocity, then straight to Nelson Park sheltered within Sydney Harbour and nicely offshore, amazing what a 10 minute drive can produce. The super high tide wasn’t doing it many favours but there were a few nice little sucky insiders that looked very worth the paddle and a few of the boys were picking these off at will.
I just feel sorry for the bloke that snapped his board and has to tell his mates he did it surfing the Harbour.
